Calling all Sointulians - Again! Malcolm Island Virtual Community Meeting May 17, 2021 at 7pm

The Sointula Volunteer Fire Department still needs to have its current tax cap increased significantly to meet its operational and capital needs. We would like more input from Sointula residents and would also like to go over the amended proposed bylaw and review the process for approval. The Regional District of Mount Waddington is seeking a Resident Attraction and Retention Program Coordinator to join our team on a full-time (35 hours per week), eighteen-month term. Reporting to the RDMW Manager of Economic Development and a steering committee drawn from the Vancouver Island North Training and Attraction Society (VINTAS), the Coordinator will facilitate the service delivery of resident attraction and retention programs within the North Island. MRDT Stakeholder Renewal Notice

The Regional District of Mount Waddington, District of Port Hardy, Town of Port McNeill and Village of Alert Bay are in the process of renewing the Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) on the North Island


In 2021, BC Hydro Plans to convert all existing streetlights that they own from High Pressure Sodium (HPS) to Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights. The new street lights will generate a different colour light which will change the lighting in your neighbourhood. You have the opportunity to voice your opinion on how your street will look after dark. Click on the arrow on the right for further information.

The RDMW Board of Directors has established the Quatsino Advisory Commission to review and provide input on matters related to land use planning and development, as well as the provision of RDMW services including the solid waste / recycling transfer station and public wharf. The RDMW is looking for members of the public who would be interested to participate as members of the Quatsino Advisory Commission.
