Mount Waddington Transit began service July 2, 2008, with a generous grant from Vancouver Island Health Authority. As of April 1, 2010, BC Transit began cost-sharing in the system in partnership with the Regional District of Mount Waddington.  North Island Community Services Society operates the buses and the Transit Office.

Mount Waddington Transit operates seven routes:

Route 1    Port Hardy to Port McNeill

Route 2    Port McNeill to Port Hardy

Route 4    Port Hardy to Fort Rupert/Storey's Beach

    Route 5    Coal Harbour

Route 6    Woss/Mount Cain Ski Connector (winter service only)

    Route 11   Port Hardy Local

Route 12   Port McNeill/Hyde Creek Local

Our Community buses are equipped with wheelchairs lifts to enable passengers using mobility equipment to easily access the transit service.  In addition, the buses are fitted with bike racks to assist in longer commutes.
